Video Card

Postby elite marksman » Wed Dec 28, 2005 7:53 pm

I'm looking at new cards since FS9 doesn't look so great on my old VisionTek 9200. I plan on spending between 100 and $150, what cards in this range are the best? Right now it looks like the ATI Radeon X700Pro 256mb on sale for $130 is the best deal, am I right?

No go for a 6600GT. X700 isnt a deadacated card, and therefore not that worth it. Ide go for the 6600GT

Whats the difference between a normal card and a dedicated card? The 6600 is also $50 more expensive.

a normal card was created with a braud spectrum of use intended, while the deadacated card was designed with gameing as its primary use in mind. You will see better results out of a deadacated card than you will out of a normal card.

if ure talkin about the ATI x700 at compusa, for $129.99, its great! i just got it. paired with 768 mb of ram, this 256 mb card sent my frames from 15 on medium low settings to 25-30fps on HIGH settings.  its a GREAT deal! take it from a customer who has bought one. good luck!

Ahem, CTJoyce, have you actually used the X700?  I have it now, and when you set it right, it does EXTREMELY well.  Go for the X700, its got a very reasonable price and performs very well.  I get 30FPS (locked) with settings very high in almost any situation.

I was getting 30FPS in that!

I've read on various websites that the GeForce FX6600GT is superior to the X700... Plus... I have the FX6600GT and am very pleased with it, I locked my frames at 40fps in FS and it stays pegged almost all of the time (see my PC specs though... my CPU may be a big part of that).

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

I think its gonna be the X700, as I'm gonna have a hard enough time convincing my parents to let me spend 130 on that.
