best USB *mic*?

Postby beefhole » Mon Dec 19, 2005 12:19 am

Hey fellas,

I was looking for a really nice USB headset as a xmas gift.  My range is up to about $100, if there's better ones that go a bit over that's alright.  Thanks in advance.

USB Headset? I havent heard anything good about them.... Though luckily for me my dad gave me his 'Phones' (Stereo 1/4 bit things absolutly huge) so I never need another headset... but I'd let somebody who knows more about this to help you! Cheers Gunny (Cranking music through headphones that can take 250 watts+)

EDIT: These phones are like 30 years old, bet the older members here know exactly what they are  ;D

Ahh I have the Sennheiser HD497, I got them for about 60$ then I bought Zalmans clip on mic. They sound stunning when paired with my Audigy 2 ZS you will not regret them. I did this because there are few headsets with a mic that sound as good as a high end headphones. So I bought good headphones and a good clip on mic. If you want to spend more look into the HD500 series of their headphones here: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/ca ... ansid=cat7 thes

Stay away from things like Zalmans surround headphones they are a waste of money and would make you look ridicoulous.

BTW I dont think USB headsets exist. You need some kind of sound processing chip on your system and tose always come equiped with your standard plugin. Audigy 2 ZS an be had for 65$ again worth every penny.

I have a logitech USB heaset Gunner, I assure you they do exist ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll make sure to check it out.

*clears throats* errrrrm sorry.  It would appear my definition of a "headset" disagrees with everyone elses.  I guess by headset I meant "mic." Sorry :-[ (to me those are earphones or headphones)

So now I'm looking for the best USB mic.

Like I said buy Zalman clip on mic. Clip it to your shirt or headphones. That way you dont loose any quality. I wouldnt be using a USB thing anyway, all it does is use system recorces.
