Please Help Comp won't fully boot

Postby Mobayrasta1 » Thu Dec 08, 2005 2:52 pm

Ok. I restarted my computer only because it had been a couple days since a fresh restart. It goes through the black screen with the Windows XP logo with the blue bar that scrolls underneath. Get to the Windows XP screen where it would nomally pop right up to my desktop and it just stops. I can still use my mouse but the computer goes nowhere. I have tried to boot into safe mode but the same thing happens. Gets to the Light Blue screen with the windows xp logo and does not do anything else. Anybody have any Ideas. The only thing really on the harddrive is 50 Gigs of Flight simulator. I have all my pay-ware add ons backed up so reformatting won't be so bad. I will have to redownload all of my freeware stuff :-[

Simple, pop in your OS Backup CD and choose to repair the partition rather than re-install it.

That's if you have one.

Hard drives are very cheap in the scheme of things, go and buy yourself a shiny new one, doesn't have to be the biggest, just a good one at a good price, and 7200 rpm.

Load windows on the new drive and retrieve the data off the old one at your leisure, you can use the old drive as a backup so you won't have this problem ever again if the old drive is still useable.

There are plenty of options to consider once you own 2 drives, the main thing is, your data will be more secure if backed up onto a second disk. Good Luck

I do have a windows xp disk so I will try to repair the partition.

I actually have 3 drives. My main drive with windows and flightsimulator. (the one that won't boot) Another 160gig internal. And a 300 gig external. If i can't repair the partition I will install windows on one of these other drives and get the stuff I want off of the bad drive.

Thanks for the help.

by hitting ctrl+alt+del if nothing is going on ?.
Btw. do you hear your harddrive work ?
If you can get into the Task Manager is there maybe
a process running called swhots.exe ?

2. Possibilty.... a driver problem. I
