DVD to VHS

I'm trying to put a DVD onto video to show at school on Thursday but everytime I start recording with the VCR the picture goes blue! The second I turn it off the problem goes away.
I've tried playing the DVD in my DVD player and with the PC (it is connected via an S-Vid cable to the SCART). I can't believe it is a security feature as this was a cheap DVD (999Ft in a sale a few weeks ago)....
Any ideas anyone?

That VCR is most likely using macrovision encoding within the video source file in order to prevent you from illegally copying the dvd..

Yes it is possible and yes it is done quite often to most videos according to research I did for a project involving illegal file sharing..

But I brought the wretched thing... I'm not sharing it just showing a small part to one of my classes.......
Oh well I guess I'll just have to carry my DVD player to school then

they don't care what you are doing with it, they just don't want you copying it!
