An old issue , especially with ATI and their graphics drivers.

Download some up to date drivers.  ;)

Go back to the drivers that were 'in the box'. I've yet to be convinced that there's any advantage with 'modern' cards upgrading to newer drivers. All they usually contain is drivers for other new cards that have been introduced since your older one (unless the manufacturer specifically states that they fix specific bugs that affect your card). That's why they are always larger.

I've done tests recently where my card ran slower with newer drivers.

Do that and then see what happens.

And don't forget that crashes are not just caused by graphics. You might want to reinstall your platform (mobo) drivers as well.

If that is the case, why do the likes of EA Games Microsoft etc mention this as a "first port of call" when sorting out graphics issues?

I think its thus, you show me a stable driver, from Nvidia or ATI and I'll eat my hat.

Your CPU is not running at it's stock 2.0ghz speed, according to your first post above, it's overclocked 10%.

That could easily be the cause of the crashes, reduce to stock clockspeeds and see if it still has problems.

wealthysoup,

Many ATI driver problems come from how the installation / upgrade to the new set of drivers is done.  ATI drivers apparently are VERY fussy as to how they get installed.

I have had a few ATI cards now, and have researched this a bit.  You have to make sure that you really do a full uninstall of the old dircers .... including running a third party driver cleaner that gets rid of stuff that ATI's uninstal misses...... before you put in the new ones.

If you don't... some aspect typically does not work right.

Could also be the root of the issues.

best,

.......john

Thanks Nick and John after testing it for a while it seems to be working fine now  :D It was the old drivers interfering with the new ones by the looks of it
