No, they didn't change, stores stock 6600's because the distributor points out that the profit margins are higher, buyer beware. Find a better store.

X700 isn't really a good card, but an X800GT is, aim for that if you get a radeon, they are supposed to be a tad better than a 6600gt, and I saw a sapphire one for the same price as a cheap 6600GT.

It's really strange that ATI still hasn't sorted the driver issue. Mind you, the times that I have installed ATI cards and drivers on other's machines, and my own for test purposes, I didn't have any problems, but I haven't used them over a long timeframe and several apps.

Sure if you can afford it, they are one step up in genre, similar in performance and price to NVidias 6800GT. Still fairly expensive.

Ill probably get the 6600gt when I have the money.  That is, unless I get enough for a 7800GT lol!  That would be nice.

No, seriously, I am saving money for RAM, I need more, and Im almost there!  THen when Hannukah comes Ill probably get enough money for a card.  Or I can wait till around June, cause Im taking the SAT again, and my mom said she would get me a 6600GT if I got a 32 on the ACT and a 2200 on the SAT.  I got a 33 on the ACT, but I came up short with a 2050 on the SAT.
