NV6600GT problem?

Postby Poseidon » Sun Nov 13, 2005 9:27 pm

Hi,

I recently got a new PC and I am experiencing the following problem. When I run FS2004 in a maximized window along with a third-party applicarttion which rund in a smaller window inside the main FS one (like SB3 or FSPassengers), the main FS window freezes quite often (especially if I close and reopen the FS window) from the top of the smaller third-party window to the bottom while the top of it remains "live" meaning it has animation and changes when I change view, but the bottom part remains frozen. Now, if I change to full screen at this point, the bottom (frozen) part changes to black and if I change back to maximized window, the problem is fixed bt eventually occurs again a bit later. Any ideas?

My system is a P4/3.0GHz, 1GB DDR RAM, Aopen NV6600GT card running on WinXP/SP2. Any help would be appreciated.

This is not a hardware fault. It's a game setting, I think in the General section of FS9 settings....... "PAUSE ON TASK SWITCH" or something similar. Just untick it.

No, it is not this. If you see at my message I say that half the window freezes (not the full window and not the Game).  The FS continues but half window is frozen.

Well test this out in other games before you go blameing your gfx. If its only FS9 try a clean install. Then if all else fails fresh gfx drivers. However why run FS in a window. You dont get the whole expirence.

The problem even occurs in fullscreen when you open SB3 as a smaller window inside FS and it occurs in a clean installation of FS (my PC is new). As for the drivers I have the latest version installed.

This problem is related to drivers. If you want to get completely rid of it you have to install an older driver
of the forceware 6x series. You can skip the 7x series completely with this series the problem is not really to solve.
The new 8x drivers seem to be much better.. at least the windows don
NFo/Simviation Multiplayer Server.

I've had similar issues with my 6800GT mate, no such problems with 81.87 drivers.

I'm getting the same problem, even with the 8x drivers ::). It means I can't use multiplayer in full screen mode because of the chat window. This makes MP screenshots much harder to take, without cropping.

I have an nVidia GeForce FX5600...
