[Boomtown Rat]

      For some reason, whenever I put in a Video Game CD (Such as BF1942, or Civ III: Conquests) My DVD-R/RW drive (and burner) has been reading it as if it was pictures, or sometimes video (i.e. the menu will pop up asking me what I want to do with the pictures) and I have to open up the drive from my computer if I want to install anything.  

           It didn't used to do this, and just started doing it "last" week.   Any help?

You or a program has disabled the cdrom's autorun function in your registry.

This is a direct download for a registry tweak to restore cdrom autorun function. It is an executable file that you need to run after you download it. You may get a warning when you click it, depending on your system security. It's not a virus....... trust me

Much thanks, thing is though, it's a rather new computer (month old), and I haven't tweaked the registry at all!

I took these off the MS expertzone board:

Check these registry values using regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
Double click Autorun
Set value to "1" under Value Data
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Double click "NoDriveTypeAutoRun
Verify that value is set to "91" under Value Data
Close the registry editor
Restart Computer.
