Mouse Cursor Creeping

Postby dave_aus » Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:54 pm

Hi

My mouse cursor has the annoying habit of moving across the screen by itself, I went out and bought a new mouse but the problem persists..any way to stop this happening?

Do you have a joystick (Dpad etc) attached to the PC? Also, do you have any other mice connected?

If either of these, disconnect them and see if it solves the problem.

is your mouse on a level surface (spirit level time) or is the surface slippery or covered in water. it could be moving slightly because of any of these reasons.
also are you using an optical mouse, these are very sensetive and can sometimes appear to move across the screen by themselves (they do at school sometimes anyway)

optical mice sometimes creep around on the screen by themselves if your mousepad is dirty....

it happened to me a while back... i was already considering buying a new mouse, but instead, i simply replaced the mouse pad... and it made all the difference

just a thought
