Rudder Pedals

Postby G-EORGE » Sat Oct 01, 2005 7:48 am

Someone has given me and old set of foot pedals (dont know the make).  As far as I can see there are two problems.
Firstly, its a brake and accelerator pedal - might it be possible to use them as rudder pedals? (i dont about the shape of them)

Secondly, the plug on them is the telephone type plug (UK) , the only suitable socket on my computer is the modem one (which isnt used).  Is it possible to buy a USB adaptor for it, and will it work?

Thanks
George

Hmm tricky.... isn't it written on the bottom of the pedals? Just without knowing the type it could prove tricky. I'd imagine they're progressive racing pedals and therefore could be used as rudder pedals, however if they're really old they'll be the binary models and not much use.
As for an adaptor, that phone jack is a new one on me. Have you tried your local PC parts store? Failing that RS Components ;)

Hum.... the "phone jack" type plug might be some proprietary type thing that is intended to plug those pedals into a master control box or into the sterring wheel.  So the pinout and the actual signal may NOT be what you are expecting.

I'd be looking for a manufacturer's nameplate somewhere and then searching the web for more info.

best,

Thanks for that, I've double checked and there's definitely no maker's name.  They do look pretty old so I think I'll just sling 'em  - they didn't cost anything.

Thanks,
