New goodies. Now with Pics

Postby ctjoyce » Sun Sep 04, 2005 6:55 pm

So (thanks to the help from AP) I just placed an order for
1. 80GB SATA-150 Western Digital hard drive
2. Arctic silver 5 thermal paste (no more hot CPU for Sheila)
3. A set of RAM heatsinks (so I may finally get cas timings of 2-2-2-5)
4. And a new 80cfm 120mm blue LED fan for my case to keep all this cool.

Ontop of that, I also bought a Cannon Power shot A95. So on wensday when all the stuff arives here I will post pictures of Sheila in her new and very much improoved state (dad alawaies told me to go for a girl with brains;) )

Cheers
Cameron

Currently just a TT tornado (barely a step up from the stock), however its soon going to be going under a Zalman CNPS7000 space permiting, and if not, a new case is in order ;)

Okey so the box came today, and I'm having mixed emotions. I'm happy that my core temp has dropped from 45C to 37C, and I'm happy that my RAM timeings are now 2-2-2-5, but there were a few things that got left out, that I am rathar sad about. First was the SATA drive did not come with a cable (but when you pay $50 for a 80GB drive, you dont complain). Also I recieved the Zalman CNPS-7000B Cul heatsink, but it didnt come with the LGA775 bracket like I thought it would :( However the mistake has been corrected, and those parts will be here on Saturday. So now for the pictures with my new camera. NOTE: The camera is amazing (Cannon Power Shot A95) however my skills arnt so hot.

A day shot of the case. I think that even with the addition of the second harddrive that I still did a pretty good job keeping the wires clean.

A night shot (Cathodes not on due to glair problems)

An overview of the case (notice the new 120mm LED fan)
Image

A glamor shot of the card. Yes it is a X800Pro, however the stock cooler broke on me soon after purchase, and the X800 cooler is a temporary fix until I can Get a Zalman on there.
Image

And the XMS with the new Vantec Iceburgs on them. They do a heck of a lot better job cooling the RAM then the air ever did. Now with this I can have stable Running 2-2-2-5

Well I hope you enjoyed my new goodies, and I know I sure did ;D

Very clean on wires, but what do you do for wiring up the IDEs CDR, DVD & Floppies.
I use those along with the Sata and the box is full of wires.                        luke

I use Antec round wires for my IDE drives, and the regular SATA cables for HDD. But for hideing the wires I put em behind the MOBO tray. Works like a dream. But if you like what you see everything can be found at www.frozencpu.com newegg.com and www.xpcgear.com

You usually get SATA cables with your mainboard, they come bundled. They don't come with the drives as you found out.

True as this may be, I already gave my extra SATA cable to a friend for his new HDD, but I figured that because the ones in the store come with SATA cables that this one should, well I was wrong. But no matter, according to UPS it comes today along with all the mounting hardware for the CNPS-7000B on my LGA775. Will get pics up as soon as I get them

Yes I know the clock isnt what is in the sig, but thats the "summer" clock. The winter one will be set up as soon as my room drops to a cool 60F

Nice system. It looks really nice with all the LEDs and the windowed case. I especially envy the case as my computers are all in dull beige/white ATX cases except my server computer (comp#1 in the sig) which rests in an equally unimpressive server eATX case.

BTW, I noticed your using the standard Intel cooler. You'll be able to achieve a higher overclock with a better aftermarket cooler like the Zalman copper cooler with a 120mm fan on top.

Well ive got the Zalman CNPS7000 in there (the 92mm one) The CNPS7700 (120mm one) was too big, and had truble with the power supply. However a full ATX and the 120mm ZALMAN are soon to come. Also a DFI LanParty board, and a Hiper Type R modular PSU are comeing soon too.

Excellent, hope you get some good overclocks clocks on it...especially with the DFI board, those things are renowed for being very overclocker friendly.
