..... windows installer problems ....

Postby kemplen » Thu Sep 08, 2005 6:30 am

.... my windows installer is not functioning now, and some of my registry is knackered ? .... if I go back to a restore of the registry (even to 2004) the installer is still not working and none of the fixes that MS suggest have got the installer restarted ..... it might of happened on an install of an office product ( one of the MS suggested causes)( I put front page on recently) or is it that windows update just put on installer 3.1 ? .... which I can't find now ! ..... I tried a repair off the XP disk but its still stuffed .... any ideas apreciated, other than a complete rebuild ?

.... well I sat down to it last night and renamed the 'msi' files that MS's fix had told me to re-name back to what they were and atempted the re-start of the installer like I did before ( as instructed by MS ) and it worked  this time ! ? .... the repair must of helped ? .... well who knows ! .... but at least its all back ..... minus front page ! though. thats worrying I will remove all of office and put it back including frontpage. ....  we will see  ???
