That means the driver does not recognize your sound card.

Hmm. Test the card in another PC to see if it still works.

What soundcard are you installing? Have you disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS?

...has "Plug and Play" actually detected your new sound card...?
Have a peek in Start > Run > dxdiag.....and see if it appears there under "Sound", (you can also test it there as well)...

Cheers...!

so.....
What did you try...?
...and what were the results...?

Is the card firmly pressed into the PCI slot...?
Have you tried fitting it into a different PCI slot, (conflicts?)...?
Did you delete/uninstall the drivers from the previous sound card...?
Did you disable the onboard sound in the BIOS...?

....need more info than "Nope"......!!

Did your previous sound card work OK...?
Did the gameport on the previous sound card work OK...?

Right..
On the dxdiag thing, it said that..

Realtek AC97 audio (the old one)

This old one is a  onboard soundcard, and yes it worked fine..

The new one was reckognised by XP, and started installing the drivers..

But it didnt work,

So i went into the disk using 'my computer', ran the setup,
n' clicked Install Drivers, then that error message came up...

Did you delete/uninstall the drivers from the previous sound card...?
Did you disable the onboard sound in the BIOS...?

No, cause its onboard and i dont know how to

and

Yes, but it didnt help, so its now enabled, while i can figure this out..

Did your previous sound card work OK...?
Did the gameport on the previous sound card work OK...?

Yes

And

I didnt have a gameport on the computer before, hence me getting the new soundcard.. ;D

Try this...

Start/Settings/Control panel/System/Hardware/Device manager > Sound, video and game controllers.

Right clicking on the entries will allow yo to perform various functions...up-grade, add, delete, disable, etc, etc.

Check if your card appears there.
Disable any entries you dont want to run.
...are there any "question marks" there indicating problems...?
give it a try...!

Are you sure your drivers are suitable for Win XP...?
My Creative Labs 1024 card drivers are only suitable for Win '98...but the actual hardware card functions ok...!

If you haven't got another computer to try it out on, (a mate's?), I rather suspect it may be a dodgy card if Plug-n-Play does not recognise it...?

The specification looks good, and the price is fine, but it's not a make that I've come across before..!
