Monitors galore....!

Postby Jimbo » Mon Jun 13, 2005 7:51 am

Well ive decided to get rid of the bulky 17" CRT monitor and swap it for a nice spanking new 19" TFT.
But whilst on my mission to find the best offer i came accross something.
Where it says something like 16ms and 500:1, does the ms need to be higher for better quality or lower and what the 'heck is the "500:1" malarky!?

Thanks for any help friends, and the webpage i used is here; http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... at_uid=354

Trusty old ebuyer...

Lower ms is better, it is the reaction time of the screen.

I can't comment about the 500:1 apart from it being contrast as Andy said, but any monitor over 16ms is to be avoided IMHO. My 17inch is 16 and I do see it blur in games, but not DVD's. I would go for a 12 or 8ms panel for a little more dosh.

Actually:

Contrast Ratio
A way of expressing the purity of colors in a projected image. Expressed as XXX:1. The higher the contrast ratio, the deeper and richer the coloring. An average contrast ratio is 500:1.
