A pretty long time ago, I posted here that I wanted to buy an alienware desktop.
Some SimVier came and told me that Ibuypower desktops are better an cheaper.

but after searching threw the internet, I came across a page in flightsim.com that had a review of the alienware are 51 computer.

It says that they tried every possible computer including the Dell Dimension XPS and 8300 and it didnt even come close to the alienwares capability.

if you wanna see it come here.

Im not, im not going to take the time to read that article...sorry. My first question was whats in each of these boxes. I didnt find any specs that were very visible/c;lear? If they bought the alieware and XPS stock(uncustomized) the alienware will probably win because it probaby has better parts off  the starting gate. Ill read through it later and see if they provide and info as to why its better. Because if I have the same exact parts how will it change if dell builds it or Alienware(or me). Alienware may have some optimizations they do but those are probably not that hard to find or figure out.

I dont know about you, but if flightsim says it
Im buying an alienware.

Reminds me of the old "I saw it on the internet it must be true."

Is it heck! - Simviation nutter says so and knows it!  ;D

Alienware et al are great if you have deep pockets.

Shallower pockets and some knowledge of what to buy & what not to buy, along with the ability to build it yourself (or, a friend) will result in a PC that will far better any Alienware.

When you buy a pre-assembled PC, you pay for its construction, also, the warranty, telephone support etc etc etc Money far better spent on the components inside the PC!

Example, Alienware build a PC based on two SLI 6600GT's great performance, but, a single PCI-e 6800GT will out perform two SLI'd 6600's yet cost a similar amount.
Effectively, the alienware PC would have been far better with a single PCI-e 6800GT ,leaving one slot free for a future upgrade i.e. another 6800GT.....

You don't get the best value or specs from manufactured PC's you just make them , the manufacturers, money.

alienware your paying 500 just for that stupid looking case. Other than that its no better than anything you can build for less.

Dude, all you gotta do is get the same component's that are listed on that page and get someone to build it up for you. It'll work out far cheaper and you might even be able to spend the few extra bob on something like a better keyboard and mouse!

I dont know about you, but if flightsim says it
Im buying an alienware.

Just remember one thing... Flightsim advertises Alienware on their website. This means that have an agreement with Alienware. Think about it, if you, as a Webmaster had an agreement with a company, wouldn't you try to peddle their products to your customers/ users?

Like I said, think about it!

Just for reference the Alienware comp uses Fx5950Ultra see how "poor" that card is now

Well that was me.

IBP desktops are CUSTOM made systems, basicly exactly the same as doing it yourself. They are cheep, relyable, and they have really good reviews.

Alienware are excellent computers, but they are mainstreem meaning that O/Cing the processer will not be an option, and you have the astronomical build fee.

Alienwares are overpriced. way overpriced.

Show me any alienware PC and I can build one that will outporform one for the same price. Granted it may not look as nice, but trust me  when I say the only thing that needs to look good is the image on the moniter.

Well i've got a 3.8GHz Alienware Area -51 beeing built for me at the moment so my view is a bit biased towards Alienware.
As long as its a good system i dont think it matters how it was built and who built it... costs come down to personal preference and tastes...
But i bet loads of you will disagree with that! ;)
