The number 9600 is followed by the suffix SE denoting a scaled down card that lacks potential performance.
Had the suffix been XT, it would be the bottom of the range for good graphics. The ATI Radeon 9600XT was a little better than the GF4 TI4200 8x AGP.
I suggest trying to get a 9800pro for the best price as a replacement, or spend more on a modern card such as the nvidia 6600GT.
Does your mainboard support 8x AGP bus speed ?
