Graphics Card

Postby ctjoyce » Sun Mar 13, 2005 6:32 pm

Ok so as you might have guessed I got a new comp for my birthday (look at my sig for details) anyway I have a ATI Radeon X800XT PCI-E. My friend wants to trade me for his nVidia e-Force FX6800 GTO PCI-E. Which card is better? Thanks guys (could resurch this on my own, but why do that when Ive got you guys?)

I'd stick with the x800. It rains supreme on most benchmarks over the 6800 ULtra (gto us not an ultra, which makes it slightly worse) with exception of doom3 and far cry.

Yeah, stay with the X800. The GeForce 6800 GTo is a Dell OEM version; they've probably done some downgrading to it.... DON'T SWAP!  :D

And exception of FS9 if I wasn't mistaken

ATi's rule ;) If everything is running well & the system seems well balanced then don't mess with anything.

ctjoyce,

I've got a 5900XT to swap, and I'll throw in a lighted case fan!

the x800 xt PE can beat a dual 6800 ultra in SLI mode even at the highest resolutions and max quality settings.

Yeah, SLI isn't supported in many gams yet. About 50, of which it only offers a signifcant performence gain in only about 5 of them with doom 3 and farcry being the biggest benefitors.
