BIG, no HUGE problem!

Postby xFLAMESx » Sat Mar 05, 2005 10:03 pm

OK, I have an enormous problem :(

Start of February I updated my drivers for my ridiculously crap graphics card, no problems.
Set Antisotropic Filtering and Anit-Aliasing both to MAX, no problems.
FS looked nice, crisp and smooth in 1024 x 768 32bit, with game anti-aliasing ON, trilinear filtering, 8x mip-mapping and 8x global texture size, no problems.

About 2 hours ago I had to restart my computer after installing some software, no problems.
Restarted FS to be greeted with 800 x 600 16bit, with the game anti-aliasing OFF, bilinear filtering, 4x mip-mapping and 4x global texture size, small problems. >:(

Put all the settings back to what I had, no problem.
went to create a flight, to be greeted with VERY jaggy aircraft edges. Bigger problems. >:(

Figured it was my graphics card settings, so I exited FS, went into display settings, graphics card settings, expecting to see a nicely set out advanced settings tab, only to be greeted with this :
Image HUGE problem. >:(

Basically all I want to know is : how do I get the the nVidia GeForce styled screen back?
If thats not possible, how would I set my graphics card Anti-Aliasing and Antisotropic Filtering back to ON?

Thanks in advance,

Carl

Your drivers have somehow been uninstalled. Download the latest nVidia drivers, reinstall them and everything should be fine!  :)

Thanks Rob,
First problem sorted ;), now I have stretched panels on all aircraft :( (Think I'll go through all 2K/XP drivers from 2003 onwards, created a restore point just in case ;))

Thanks again, at least I can fly now ;D

Cheers,

Carl

Amazing. I too am having the same problem!! I just upgraded my drivers from 42.30 to 56.73 and I have lost the Nvidia screen to change my card settings. I think the newer version must have been included in a Microsoft download as I have never downloaded any drivers myself.
I am however getting much better frame rates but have some scenery issues. The scenery seems to take forever to come into correct focus.
What is  the latest driver driver version for this video card and where is the best site to download it from. Are the latest drivers necassarily the best?

All the best.

lol,  I had a similar problem awhile back...for the longest time fs looked like crap...That handy little nvidia icon in the taskbar disapeared and couldnt figure it out....But i uninstalled the card and reinstalled under the origional drivers...soon as i updated them....GONE...      Now im setting on the origionals and fs looks fine as well as the little nvidia icons and tools are all back....Might try that ;)

Might have to try that Triple7,
problem is, graphics card is the one that came with the system, where would I find the original drivers? (on nVidia's site I'm guessing)
More importantly, how would I start (I don't like messing around with my system, but I think I need to :()

I was flying with Eno and co. earlier, but had to pull out after getting 0.8 FPS with settings on medium, display set to 800 x 600 - 16bit. (maybe I've killed my card?)
My screenies look like they were painted on the walls of the Grand Canyon >:( :-/ :(

Cheers,

Carl

BTW - Zaphod, reckon it could be these inferior cards that's the problem ::).....;), just wish I could afford to upgrade :(

NV43.51 was a good driver for the GF4 MX series. (if you can still find it)

Those cards ......... set 1024x768x32 res.   x2q AA (max!),    no AF

Clouds are killers for FPS on that series of card, disabling them will make higher graphics settings feasible.

When you guys get that properties page, it's just the default windows one. It means your driver isn't installed correctly.

Cheers Congo.

I suspected that the original Nvidia driver has been overwriten by something.

I'll search for the driver you recommend. Fortunatly I can still rollback to the orginal 42.30. before I load the new one (if I can find it!)

PS
There's an interesting thread over on the 2004 forum about frame rates at the moment (Frame Rate Solution (Really Works!) Can't wait to see how that resolves
