Bought new computer

Postby Buckeye42 » Tue Feb 08, 2005 4:12 pm

I wish I would have found this before I ordered my new computer, but here is what I got.  How do you think it will perform?  I was sick of bad graphics w/ my current system.

AMD 2800
512MB DDR memory
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB

Buckeye, you can benchmark your performance with several different programs out there.  3D Mark has a limited version of their payware program that you can download for free.  It will test your graphics performance and they also have a PC Mark program for benchmarking your overall computer performance.

Judging by what you've go though, I would say it's a pretty good system.  You may consider upgrading to 1 gig of memory though...

I reckon you could get pretty good results from that system too.  Just get it setup well and use 'FSautostart' to shut down unrequired services when playing.

As said above 1gig ram wouldn't hurt at a later date to aid loading times etc.
AMD64 3500+ @ 2200MHz 400FSB
MSI K8N Neo 2 mobo nForce3 chipset
1gig Corsair XMS PC3200 timings @ 10.2.2.2
XFX 6800 Ultra @ 450/1200
80gig HDD
Loadsa fans!!!

Sorry to be the pessimist, but your video card seems to be a little lacking. I would consider upgrading to a 9800 pro at least. A another 512mb stick of RAM would also be good.
