Joystick Troubles

Postby Sobby » Mon Jan 03, 2005 2:17 pm

Ever since I got CFS1 I got the package which included the Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick, with Forcefeed back....

Very Very happy with that till.....Xmas Day :(

Unpacked my new PC, plugged it all up..WOW THIS PLAYS HALF LIFE, REALLY REALLY WELL....GOT TO TRY FS9

So, got my old joystick, happy as Larry

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The socket required ain't there, oh, god nooo, please no

So as you might guess this post is about, what joystick should I get, WITH A USB ;D

I was thinking on X 45 Digital Joystick & Throttle
or  X52 Flight Control System Joystick

So, please help me with your words of wisdom ;D

Hmmmm my Microsoft Sidewinder precision 2 is pretty good..... Been dropped about 500 times on Hard wood, Concrete...... I've even about snapped the stick off the base nearly and its taken this beating for nearly 2 years! Pretty good stick.... depends what you want though.... combat sims, my stick is good with twist rudder (also is USB) works great in fighters but not so good in Yoke type aircraft. Those I'd recon a good yoke and pedal set..... all depends on what you want really. Cheers, Gunny

So, for flying GA aircraft a yoke and pedals right...
And for military aircraft get a joystick...

Also, if you don't really want to miss out on the old one, there is a Gameport plug to usb adapter available at most electronic stores..;-)

I've been happy with both my logitech Forcefeedback and the standard logitech wingman extreme...(BOth with twist in the handle for rudimentary rudder...)

Luckily though I've scrapped together enough money and am awaiting a new ch products USB yoke to complement my ever growing hangar of aircraft..:-)
