Nvidia 6800 Ultra Extreme/Alternatives

Well I just heard Nvidia will be reliseing a Utra Extreme, The memory clocks will remain the same but the core clock will be 50Mhz faster and increasing fill area by 10%. Thats not all, e-VGA plans to relise their UltraE version with a 450 Mhz core clock and a 1200 Mhz Memory clock so they are gonna have these things OCd 50/100 Mhz more then the stock Ultras. These should hit shelves at the beggining of June, the price is TBA but I am shure you are gonna need to dish out about 600 for them... allso Chaintec is presumably testing their card that will be at the above clocks but may/are belived that the core clock may reach 500 Mhz. Just a tidbit of info I thought I would share that I found while searchin the net an researchig Ultras... So those that are rolling in the dough and want to buy a card wait an extra week or two...

Of course the stock Ultra will probably be able to hit the 450 Mhz mark pretty easy especially with a 25 dollar heatsink on it, and the RAM to 1200..probably achievable with some RAM Sinks or watercooling could prolly surpass the Ultra E but who knows if these Ultra E are already OCd and thus can not be OCd very much more or if they will support OCing, if it supports OCing we should be seeing some OCs going over 500 mhz, and 1300 Mhz with a bit o' luck and good cooling...

What you just described seems like an awefull lot of effort for 5-10 more frames I am estimating.  My new 6600 GT is running at basic 6800 speed thanks to RIVA. I also have upgraded my case fan and added two of the largest slot fans I could buy in the most strategic locations I could determine.  My pc sucks like a Hoover and blows like a paxton (supercharger).  Also, I am now a big fan of shutting down all the unecessary resource leaches that comes with windows.  I use Fs-Autostart.  Not sure how well "End-it-All" works, haven't tried that one yet.  It makes a HUGE difference plus I can arm it to start other games to, not just FS and the performance increase is just as remarkable with my other games and apps. The only problem is if I want real world weather I need to download it into a planned flight, save it, and then re-start through FS-Autostart.  Obviously I have a service dis-abled thats needed for my pc to recieve weather data on-line.  I will sort it out eventually though.

My XFX 6800 Ultra runs fine at 450/1200  ;D  been running it like that since two days after getting it  ;D

Default on the XFX is higer anyhow. Its default is 425/1200 so its not a big overclock really for the XFX.  Can get over 450 but cant get the 1200 any higher.

Exactly what I said, why would I dish out that much cash when I can aready buy it lol. Im gonna get a BFG 6800Ultra.. is this a good card and does it really require that 480W PSU?

I do have an Antec Truepower 480w PSU.

Couldnt tell you if it runs on less as I had this way before I got the card.  I do run nothing else on the cables that are plugged into the card though.

Well for thsethat can invest in an UE or less than I found the card for you in my searches today! We already have an UE made by Gainward its 6800Ultra/2600 is an Ultra except she runs at 450Mhz/1200Mhz stock, now the OC results for it were verrry disapointing and it will not reach UE speeds on the core but if you want so close to UE you cant even feel it for a bit lower price this is for you the max stable oc was 470/1252 Mhz, the bad OC is due to the throttling mode that Nvidia has to stop video error.... nost of the aircooled versions are about 580 bones but can and belive me can be found for 450 but are always out of stock....the watter cooled version is well alot more saw one for 900 but it comes with everythig you need to water cool it down to the radiator. So pull out your wallets and test this thing..

I have heard of eVGA's nvida 6800 UE card and plan to be getting two of them.

If you guys want some benchmarks or soemthing, just ask me.

As for paying a lot of just 5-10 frames, well, 5-10 frames means a lot to me.

BTW, the BFG's vif cards are ok. IF you want the best quality though, go for an eVGA. And yes, a 480 psu is recommened. Anything lower and you'll have system stability issues. That thing drains power like a SUV drains fuel.

My psu is pretty much maxed out right now and I only have one 6800. When i get another, I'm probably going to get a 550 watt ATX2 psu.
