Postby flyflyflyaway » Sat Dec 11, 2004 11:23 pm

Hey all!
As you may know, I will soon be making my first custom pc. Before i decided on a hard drive, i wanted to know if any of you knew what a SATA hard drive was?
Just a quick question,
Thanks and Happy Flying! ;D

Serial ATA, don't kow what ATA means ??? but they are geerally better than EIDE for a few reasons,
1. They use small thin serial cables instead of those big IDE cables to hook up.
2. They have a faster transfer rate
3. Dont quote me on this but I think they are better for setting up RAID Arrays etc...

Thats all I know of em  :)

SATA is much better then any other connection type.

You don't have to set master and slave drives, etc.

Its much easier to setup.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I found a website that explains the ins and outs of SATA hard drives. If you want to check it out go to http://www.pcguide.com.au/Reviews/storage/satavpata/page2.php.

Thanks Again! ;D

CAUTION:

I attempted using my SATA drive with four partitions.  The drive was not recognized properly.  I reconfigured it with three partitions and it works fine.

They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.
