Fs2004 xmas (again)an ati 9200

Hi,
my other brother has took the other  pc i was going to get away so now im getting an 800mhz pc with 394mb ram and an ati 9200 128mb graphics card. is it good enough for fs2004 and what fps would it run at?

P.s Seen the "airplane" dvd. Hilarious!

Look, I have a 700 Athlon with 1Gb ram, it has a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX and couldn't run FS9. I ran FS 2K2 with it fairly well until I loaded it on my 2.6Gb Dell with a faster NVIDIA card and it was like night and day. That prompted me to load FS9 on it and voila! runs like a dream. Unfortunately, I can't hook up my 21" monitor to it due to space and the accountant won't let me move the CPU to my home. Your question, I don't think you'll get FS9 to run worth a dam!

Sorry Georf.....The ATI 9200 card is ok but the short answer to your question is "Nope"

You might just get something reasonable out of FS9 with a lot of tweeking ...... but nothing fantastic.

I was actually getting better FPS from FS9 than I was from FS2002 on my old Intel celeron 500 with 128 RAM and a 64mb graphics card ......... so  you might just manage it ...... but dont expect anything.

you need more ram. I have the 9000 which runs ACOF at an acceptable but nothing stunning level. If you can boost upto 512mb Ram then it should run to acceptable standards

Better, but not great!

As long as your not looking for top visuals, you'll be able to fly with either sim, as I say though, visually, it'll be lacking.

All the calculations for AI, placement of Autogen, dynamics of how the aircraft is flying, weather conditions and variations and well er just about every aspect of the dam SIM!  Remeber its not a game its a SIM designed to try to be as realistic as possible hence loadsa calculations to be done!

As said it will fly but just dont expect all the eye candy!

I dunno, I would guess so with the detail turned down.  I think peeps are just trying to say yes it will run but it just wont look as good as some of the screenshots posted on here.

Ok, ideally for fs2004 you want 1gig ram.  You want the fastest CPU you can afford (2.8Ghz+ Pentium or 2100Mhz+ AMD) would do.  To complement this ATI9800pro or Nvidia FX5900 or higher (If you could a new gen card would be better though, just hard to get hold of still).

I would say with these you should get a reasonably good looking sim. I am not to confident that you will get a good looking sim with your current setup without taking a high FPS hit.

Well like I said you have nothing to loose trying it! Go ahead and install it, you will have to experiment with the settings and achieve a compromise.  I am sure it will run on that system it just wont look super pretty.  You will however be able to fly fine and go anywhere in the world etc.  If you like flying then go for it.  I understand not everyone can just go buy a new setup.  What I listed was the setup you would possibly require for a really nice looking sim.

Now go install it and get playing with the settings. I would say 1024x860 res (I think the second number is right)  Medium autogen, leave the fancey things like effects off and try to get your aircraft and scenery as good looking as possible.

One thing that may be worth doing on yours is under the display/weather tab set it to simplified clouds.  If you dont mind flying without weather just use clear skies!

Get it set up and run it have a look and see what results you get.  Then I will try help you maybe alter a few things.  

Try not to have any other programs running in the background whilst FS2004 is going too.  Shutdown everything possible.  If you fly offline, disconnect yourself from the net and turn off anti-virus and firewall too.
