VGA Chart from Uncle Tom

Postby congo » Fri Oct 15, 2004 1:22 pm

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but Tom's have used FS2004 in a VGA comparison chart recently.

Thanks Tom

Thanks Congo it is nice to see a benchmark set up for FS9 only.
You know how bad I critize them mainly becasue they are shown for other games. But looking at this one it shows numbers that correspond with what many say they can achive.

I use the 9600xt, and max the settings except for the clouds, those are down a couple of notchs.  I run temporal anti-aliasing, it is an amazing method of AA, it looks like 6xAA, and only hits FPS like it is 4xAA.  I also use 16XAF in high quality mode.

I suspect if FS9 was DX9 graphics a lot of cards would drop off that list, including the FX5200, as that claims to be DX9 accelerated, but is not powerful enough to cope so it is disabled by the drivers.

Good benchmark congo! ;)

Very interesting. They forgot to test the 6600s. Looks like my original list was pretty accurate. Looks like nVidia is king this time around. I'm surprised the FX5200 beat the Radeon 9600SE. What's the difference between that and a regular 9600?

congo,

Do you happen to know what the internal SIM settings were for the test and what the core machine was (processor clock, fsb, ram etc)?

My 9800XT doesn't give me NEAR those kind of framerates in that scenario.  If I had that I'd be happy as a pig in "hog lubricant".   :)

best,

This list seems to confirm the FX6800 (Non GT) as the best pound / performance by a mile!

I can't wait for mine!

9600 and 9600se have the same speeds, but 9600 has 128-bit bandwidth and the 9600se has 64-bit bandwidth, so the 9600se has half the performance of the 9600.

The testbed was a 3.2ghz P4 on a I875 chipset (800mhz fsb) with 1gb ram.

The Game quality settings were quoted as "Standard Quality Settings" (what ever that is) with unlimited framerate and trilinear filtering.

Here is a link to one of the pages.

Just a thought, but maybe someone could "Sticky" the VGA Chart, as video card issues are one of the main concerns here, and also the most confusing?

???
