Need to check your MHz speeds?

Postby Skittles » Mon Sep 27, 2004 4:31 pm

I was asking around at work if there was a way to determine what speed my system was actually running at. Having my system configured the way it is, I thought I was running full bore. WRONG!!!

Using a program called CPUZ I found out my current processor can not run at anything other than 533MHz

So now, I have a new 3.2GHz CPU due to arrive thursday so I can take advantage of the 800MHz FSB. Finally.

UPDATED:
I finally received my new CPU and it took forever to get my system stable.

pardon my ignorance but how do you take a picture of something on your desktop (screen) then paste it here in the forum? I downloaded the cpuz...

Set up whatever you want shown, then hit the Print Screen (PrtScr) button, usually in the upper right of the keayboard.  That will save it to clipboard, and you can paste it into your favorite photo editor (I use Photoshop 7) and save it as a .jpeg file.  Then click on the Upload images link at the top of the page here and follow the instructions...

Have fun!

If I may add, for my systems anyway, if I press Print Screen, I get an image of the whole desktop. This includes my expanded desktop. If I press Shift+Control+Alt+Print Screen, I get an image only of the active window.

Not to mention will also show all the porn links your browsing! ;D
Which brings up a point that Hagar made awhile back when someone else had a shot of their entire desktop.
Anyone was able to see the persons AOL screenname,Email adddress, all open windows, etc. Some of which by many can be considered "personal" information that you wouldn't want others to see.
So be careful as to what your screenshot contains! ;)

just to update, cpuz is an excellent tool but I can't post it here because my clip book does not work right.  I can put the image of my desktop and just the cpuz readout in it with the methods described above. When I go to "copy"  (in the dropdown menu under "edit") it is not a highlighted option. I tried several avenues to copy from clipbook such as saving it then trying to copy but the only program that will open a .clp extention file is clipbook. I tried changing the extension to jpeg and jpg but neither worked. I tried clicking on the item in clipbook veiwer to highlight it and still "copy" was not an available option in the dropdown. The only option  is to delete. I'm probably still doing something wrong but i don't know what. I did a google for simliar problems with clipbook but found little help. I even enabled "clipbook" in services with no change. That option is mostly for sharing on a network whats in your clipbook.
