Minor Problem With Win2k

Postby Skittles » Wed Sep 01, 2004 9:29 pm

Since my re-install, during the final loading of applications I get two Explorer windows that open to my Win2k/System directory. I've gone through the RUN keys in the registry and the STARTUP menu in the START/PROGRAMS menu.

I'm at a loss of ideas. Anybody else have this problem before?

Joe

They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

I had to do another re-install of windows. Right after plugging in my USB drive and making two drive shortcuts, the same thing started happening again! I went back and unplugged the USB drive and removed the shortcuts. No Luck! I'm so confused. ???

EDIT: After installing my sound card, I now have three windows open. UUUGGG!!!! >:(

Have you checked the programs list? I had a problem that while not the same was similar, where another program had been discretely added to my system, which was tying up my resources.... ;)

Everytime I logon to my computer, and all the background programs are loading, there two windows, opened to my C:\WINNT\SYSTEMS directory...

To correct other problems I was having, I decided to format my drive and re-install Windows 2000.  I was getting these before I even setup my LAN connection. It started when I installed an external USB har drive.  My SpySweeper software has found nothing. To correct additional problems, I formatted again and re-installed Windows 2000 again. This problem came back.

I figure nobody here on SimV has an external Iomega ZipDrive installed, and that's why nobody could help.

As you can tell, I figured out it was the ZipDrive causing these windows to open.

Chalk that up to another lesson learned during yet another windows reinstall.

i've got one ZIP 100 for the LPT port at home... not an USB one. the rest is internal IDE/ATAPI, which is way faster.
