Mate...... ;D 8)

In Zimbabwe, nothing is fast!  Not even at school.  Even though it's quite a good one.

Not that I' be able to download anything there anyway, considering it's like web browsing only, and there are no burners on any of the bloody school computers, to put the info on! :P

I would have to disagree, I saw some of the track and field events at the Olympics last night!

Yaaaaaaa.......  In Zimbabwe!  I last saw one in this country around 4 years ago!  Besides, what makes an internet cafe's speed, here, faster than my speed!  It sounds quick, 46.6KB/s, but because of the crappy phonelines, it acts like 15KB/s!  Cause it freezes now and then.

Greg

P.S.  Ya the Zimbo's have done quite well, especially in the swimming, one of my good friends!  Kirsty Coventry.  Hell of an upset that was!  (for the rest of the world! ;))  Use her for your example of speed!

leechget is a free download accelerator that parses the website, listing it's files and you can choose the one you want to download, it should work at guru3d.com

Get the English only driver version as it is half the size of the multi-language ones.

If you are connecting at 46k, and it's slow, consider that you might have a filthy connection full of bugs and spys and other software accessing the connection, draining your bandwidth, these need to be trimmed down so you get what you are paying for, and companies aren't using your connection for a market survey.

Lots of programs access the net, Disable anything automatic that could access the net.

Run AdAware and other spyware killers, see how much bandwidth your connection is using at idle!

The new video card will come with a driver.

New drivers aren't going to make it perform noticeably better I'll bet, but may even make it worse.

If you spent as much time getting a decent video card as you did worrying about the dumb driver, you'd be a lot better off!

Actually the 256mb version of the 5700 might be ok....  if that's all you can get.... sheesh I could have posted you a card.

You mention the phone line quality being bad.... but yet your connection speed is 46k ??  It should work ok at that if its a true reading..... I mean, if it was connecting at 26kb or 32kb that would be bad.......
