Your internet connection

Postby bm_727 » Mon Mar 22, 2004 5:36 pm

I am getting sick of my 56k dial-up and I was wondering what types of internet are cheaper (on average) and better?

BTW: Does MSN offer broadband service??

We just recently went through this.
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=cafe;action=display;num=1079400411
Looks like it is split pretty evenly between Dial, broad, and DSL around here.

I personaly have cable here in this state, but I have DSL when I go home on breaks and hollidays. I would rather cut my let arm off than go back to a dial-up. It would be something akin to going from an BMW M5 to a Geo Metro; too unbearable.

I don't think there is MSN broadband, since broadband comes from your local cable company.

oops... I just started going into the Cafe SimV forum like yesterday so I didn't see that post :-[...

But, just so you know, broadband is any kind of high-speed internet.  Usually where I'm from, broadband means DSL, but it can also mean cable or DSL

Have pity on us in semi-rural Australia (mind you, not too far from a major city)....many of us, including me, do not have access to broadband.  My dial-up is never better than 28 kbps !!!  Our major provider, Telstra here is an example of a monopoly which is more interested in its shareholders than providing service to its customers.

We have broadband, and I never thought it was that much faster until I went to a friends house. I used to think it was just good for unlimited internet use and for households which have people on the phone all day, and for that privilage one had to pay a gigantic, enormous, whoopingly horrendous price. However I found the difference jaw-dropping when I went to a friends house who had just the basic dial up. I would never go back to that... - though it's my Dad that has to pay the monthly bill so I can't really say that!
