GAME CRACHES......  HELP!!!

Postby dhong_usa » Fri Mar 05, 2004 5:26 am

I have an Athlon 2100 1.6Ghz, 1gb of RAM, ATI radeon 9600xt 128mb, 17' flat panel screen. I just instal fs9 on my comp last week and I notice everytime I play after 10 mins. it crashes. The whole computer hangs already and i need to restart it. I update everything already but still no work. I tried to install it in my laptop (P4, 512mb RAM, 32 mb video card) and it works properly without crashing. Can someone tell me what to do with this problem. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for all the help. I hav a windows xp and everything is updated. I tried to install directx9 and update my video card driver but still crashing. I was thinking maybe it is the power supply that i need to change coz i have 5 fans inside my cpu (1-side, 2-back, 1-front, 1-top). I wanna ask an advice which power supply is better (what brand and how many watts). I notice also when i 1st open my computer and start playing i can play for almost 30 to 45 mins and when it starts dying and restart the comp and start playing again thats the time i can only play for 10 mins maximum  :( . As far as I know this problem relates to the hardware already. Thanks again for your advise. Hope you can still help me with this problem. HAPPY LANDING!!!!!!!!

It really seems to be the power supply, which is causing your crashes. Or the CPU fan is too weak....

My PC freezes quite often. I don't just mean in the sim, but in... anything! It stops quite often just after I hit the Shutdown. It just stops with the windows logo and the message 'Windows is shutting down'? Any ideas?

dhong,

It sounds to me like a cpu overheat crash, have you got a temperature monitoring utility? Try one and see what it's running at, if it's getting above 60*C, then thats probly it.

I burned out 2 PSU's this year, and didn't experience any crashing, they just blew. Now I'm up to a 450 watt PSU, and I don't have much stuff on my rig.

A generic psu will not give what it says it can.  However a good quality one like Antec and Enermax will.

Exactly,  a PSU is one thing that needs to be top notch equipment, it is capaple of detroying the PC or worse, causing a fire.

There have been several PC fires in Western Australia recently in the hot weather.
