Keyboards plus Water?

The other night I inadvertantly knocked a glass of ice water on part of my keyboard. Now I've noticed that some keys don't work, and others are mapped differently.

Some examples are: My left control button also mutes and un-mutes the audio, my right arrow key doesn't work, my 'skip track' button is also mapped to the scroll lock button & the enter button on the keypad doesn't work

I tried my keyboard on another computer and got the same results.

Is it safe to assume that this is a result of the water?

Is there anyway to fix it or is it hopeless?

let it dry a bit...
or open it and let the water out, as it seems to stay inside

this has happened to me some time ago,but with beer instead of water. i had to open the keyboard and clean almost all of its parts.

My advice would be to throw the keyboard away, and

My keyboard still works, it's just that several buttons are messed up.

But since this happened 3 days ago, wouldn't the water have dried up leaving no residue?

Andrew it could be that you've developed dry joints in the soldering. Best thing to do is open up the keyboard and look at all the solder joints. If any of them are a dull grey colour, or have cracks, re-solder them. That should cure it

I found several other buttons that don't work too

Whatever you do, don't 'wet' the dry joints!! I remember swimming once with my personal organiser tucked away descreetly and had similar problems with the keys - I used the wife's hairdryer and it worked just fine. Maybe one for the future if it happens again.

I opened it up and looked around but it wasn't built to allow people to look inside, so I went to my local computer shop and bought myself another keyboard.

Maybe i'll take Triple7's idea and blow my old one away with a shotgun

A friend of mine also likes combinations of keyboard with liquids but he prefers coffee. In fact he combines coffee with several objects (living or not) apart keyboards including himself.

Anyway, a keyboard is too cheap to spend time on it unless you like it. I would buy a new one and keep the old aside in case it starts working when fully dried.
