Can a black out mess up a joystick

But if you want the details here you go...

Once again I am (ticked) off by my (dumb) Logiteck Force Feedback joystick. I had the same problem with my last stick I got replaced and since I cant call and complain till monday Im trying to figure out what could be wrong.

Re: your first problem, jumpy rudder axis control, I had the same problem with my Logitech Wingman Extreme 3D. After taking the handle apart and putting it back togather, twice, it now works fine. Not sure it was something I did, or maybe Devine intervention or pity.  I believe it was either the twist potentiometer was not seated properly on top of the white stem inside the handle, or the wire lead to the pot' was not properly positioned, puttin stress on the pot'. I paid attention to both when reassembling.

As for the blackout, if you were in fs9 at the time, and power simply shut off, without a normal system shut down, files may have been corrupted. Its possible that reconfiguring the joystick, first thru control panel or the logitech profiler, and then from fs9's option menu will fix it..

I live in central NY and have had at least 4 blackouts this year. With one I was downloading a plane, and a few times while flying. I have never had a problem.
I assume that you have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the joystick. If you have any other game devices (ie..steering wheels) disconnect them and try again.

other than buying a differnt brand (i have a saitek) thats all I can think off

Four this year! I've had two. The big one and one when they had to turn off the power to hook up the town's new arena to the grid.

Try recalabrating your joystick. Delete the old profile and make a new one. Blackout's shouldn't do anything, I was playing FS when the big one happened.

Wow all of a sudden it works again. I don't know what happened but I unplugged it, plugged it again an It worked again.

  I bought the saitek but didn't like it. I was mad about having to replace it the first time and I went to best buy and bought it. I didn't like it though, It stays in the middle when not pulled and seems verry unrealistic because of that, (as in you let go and it springs back to the center).
 If it happens again I might try opening it up (Im one of those people that likes to open things up... havent messed up anything... yet)
