SCSI Problems

Postby Iroquois » Mon Aug 25, 2003 2:49 pm

I'm having some difficulties with my computer's SCSI setup. I'm using a Tekram card and I have two things I want to set up. First is a Zip drive and the second is an old scanner. A while ago the SCSI card just stopped detecting these devices.  There is nothing wrong with the devices themselves and the Device manager detects the card and there are no conflicts. I've updated the drivers of both the SCSI card and the mainboard and nothing happens. Any ideas on how to solve this.

Here are the details
Tekram DC-315U SCSI card
ECS K7S5A Mainboard
Windows XP

Extrenal, internal or mixed.

I don't know the card, but it could be that it's either internal OR external and not both.

Other possible solution...
Does the cable type change? remember that the best (widest) one has to be closest to the card, and if you have a media downgrade, you probably need active termination on the open ends

It's an internal card with an external zip and scanner. It's currently only hooked up to one thing and it is terminated at the end of the chain.

Does the ZIP drive have another connector type than the scanner?

There are two different cables. One is a 50 pin Ultra SCSI to the serial style SCSI port. The other cable is serial style. I think it may be the card. There's a LED light on it that's supposed to light up when the card is active and it hasn't been comming on. I tried switching PCI ports but this did nothing.

Here's some information on the card.

So there is one 50 pins cable, and a 25-pins cable?

then you need an active termination SCSI media changer on the device which connects to the computer with the 50 pin cable, just check the SCSI type as some use the same cable with other signal lines
