Are these compatible? please help

Hello! I'm planning on buying a new motherboard, processor and ram. I have the 3 items I want ready for checkout.. I just need to hit the button to buy it

The RAM could be a little problem, as it is 1: not a standard yet, 2:maximum spec of the motherboard.
if you have problems set it to 2700.

The RAID controller is for most people just another IDE controller, 4 HD's extra

For the processor you have it's one of the best choiches anyway. and remember to switch that special Canterwood feature on... improves performance with 10-20% or so

I don't plan on using the motherboards on-board sound.
I allready have a SB Audigy and an Echo Darla professional recording card. I'm guessing it shouldn't be too much of a problem to turn off. I hope it wont be a problem though.

Yes, you can put the RAM speed back one setting (233Mhz mem bus speed instead of 400Mhz)

Remember that ASUS likes to put the audio-off both in the BIOS and as a jumper on the board. only the jumper gives the IRQ channel back.

Great. I hope that irq wont be needed. I'm kind of pushing my luck as it is by just ordering this stuff. I've never done anything more than change a hard drive or a pci/agp card and memory. I'm going to end up screwing something up. hehe I'm guessing it would probably be a good idea to free up the irq though. I'm using 5 pci slots right now as it is. That new board only has 5 slots.

I think my biggest issue though is going to be mounting the processor to the motherboard. I hope I don't have to do any soldering. My soldering skills are way below poor. hehehehe you should see my solder-job I did to the input on my guitar, I must have about a half pound of solder around the wire in their  ;D

no soldering needed.

Just make sure you put the whole mobo together (processor and memory mounted) if it isn't on a sliding plate... fixing the cooler when it's only resting on 9 screws makes it bend horribly (it won't break usually)

One thing to remember: homebuilding PC's is addictive, especially when coming from pre-built ones as you often get much better results when choosing all your hardware yourself compared to a pre-built with the same hardware.

Yeah I can see how that is. I've always wanted to build a computer from scratch but have been afraid of scewing it all up and waisting money. I have a feeling that in a few years from now when this computer starts getting outdated I'm going to end up building one myself. I never did like buying computer from companies because I know they aren't going to be the best that they can be. My motherboard isn't even a genuine Intel. It's a modifed intel board. all they do is advertise the processor speed and the ram not telling you that the other hardware in the computer makes the processor and ram obsolete.

Oh yeah, I also added a geforce fx5900 to my shoping cart  :) The ti 4600 doesn't utilize the 8X AGP port this new board is going to have so I figured I would get a new video card too. I can't wait to benchmark this system once it's done.

I read that only the new ones are. I also looked at the nvidia website to check and it said it is 4X AGP. Maybe I overlooked something?

they put a locked multiplier betwen the bus and the processor if you buy the AGP8x version. It still is AGP4x inside

thats right, my Ti4800 is 8x, they way it was when i bought it.
