Advice needed...

Postby alisdair » Sat Aug 02, 2003 4:15 pm

I'm not massively technical, but know the basics of performance criteria. Can anybody please tell me which areas of my PC I need to upgrade to get a really good performance with top notch graphics from FS 2004.

My computer details are as follows

Pentium 4 1.4 Ghz
128 MB Ram
NVidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400

Don't know if you need anymore info? Maybe I need to upgrade all areas, but obviously don't want to spend money if unecessary.
At the moment it is running a bit juddery at diplay settings at medium -low, and quite of ten the game will crash. Not sure if this is a bug or just my computer being overworked. I would like to be a be to get the best realism settings and details to run smoothly.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

With 512MB of RAM and a 128MB V-Card..  you'll be just fine.

If your current board won't support at least PC2700 RAM (that you'll be able to use in your next computer) ... you might wanna just go with 256MB...

The new V-Card can be put in your next machine, no prob..  good luck..

U could get a new mother board for about 150 dollars and get two 256 MB DDR PC2700 for dual channel. just make sure the motherboard has support for dual channel. and then i would at least get a Geforce 4 Ti model, you could if u were willing to spend a bit more get and Geforce FX. As long as the card has 128 Mb u should be fine.
Still have a nice PC but I just switched to a hella nice mac
