Help!  FS2002 & more...

Postby jato72 » Tue Apr 08, 2003 4:52 pm

My brand new machine crashes after about 2-5 minutes of playing MS2002.  It also crashes on every other game that uses DirectX.  It crashes every single time, although not right away.  I am pretty sure I have all of the lastest drivers.  Other non-DirectX programs work fine.

Help!

Hmm, could be the service pack. It is known to cause issues on some machines for no known reason. Try re-installing standard XP and see if that cures it.

There is 1 line in the Dx info that puzzles me.

AGP Status: Not Available

It should read : 4x or 8x if you have an 8x motherboard.

I suggest going into BIOS setup and checking to make sure
that you Primary VGA display is set to AGP and not PCI. that's a start. ( and hopefully the simple solution)

I changed out the RAM.  Everything is fine now.  Wow, I was worried.  I went from Mushkin (sp) to Corsair.

Coming from a P3 600, the frame rates are spectacular! ;D

Thanks for your help.
