question about system specs.

The latest Air Battle game from Microsoft! Running on an entirely new platform, CFS3 is raising it's fair share of problems & opinions - Good & Bad!

question about system specs.

Postby Etienne62 » Tue Feb 28, 2006 8:36 pm

Hi all,
I bought cfs3 a couple of months ago, and i got really bad frame rates.
My system is.
AMD athlon 1700+
768mb ram
xfx geforce 128mb card.

I ended up buying cfs2, and that played ok until i bought vietnam air wars. Then, frame rate dropped again.

I've ordered a newer system, and i just wanted anyone's opinion as to whether i should be able to play cfs3 ok on it.

Its
P4 3.2ghz
1gb ddr ram
Radeon X700 512 card.

Thanx for your attention.
Ste.

wow,  not bad spec's.
perhaps a bad driver , or  configuration.
CFS3 is best  run with a steady configuration, and  it's very easy to mess up  or repair from that simple  issue.
have you done  the config ?
with a 128 ati , and a 3.2   and  thats plenty of ram,
do you possibly have  alot of processes running  in the background ?
there's never a stupid question ,  and  CFS3 Rock's on my lower ended  system ( compared to yours )

AMD2600+
WinXPproSP2
1gig pc2100
XfX-Nf2-ahn
WD ATA100/7200r. 200gig
G4Ti4200 /64mb
Audigy-snd

(1024x768x16)
with my sliders set to-
4 overall
5 aircraft
4 terrain
3 effects
1 clouds
----
all sound sliders in menu in options of game-
30
I  get 30 - low end , with massive explosions (details of debrie )
 50's -  highs clouds & blue
mid 40's in traffic.

the  game looks incredible , runs smooth and should on your system.

Hi,
Thanx for your reply.
I don't run games with other applications running.
I've tried all the settings.
But i don't understand what you mean when you say have i done the configuration?
I know what you mean about a bad driver, and i tried different drivers to see if i could improve things.

If i can get the performance that you get with my newer system, (when it comes) then i'll be more than happy.

I also have wings over vietnam and strike fighters, vietnam medevac and sar 4. Oh, and trainsimulator... i could go on. (non of which play great unless i turn the sliders way to the left. Which i hate doing).

Frame rates should be my middle name, cos ever since i got my first comp and was playing fs98, they've always been an issue as i've never been in a position where i can afford the top end machines.

And now there's a new game on the horizon, Whirlwind of vietnam. Which looks amazing. I'll probably be gettin that if the new system seems up to it.

Thanx again.

have  you  tried  my old setup  file  in the  CFS3 downloads / misc.page 2 ?

in the read me in it,  I had  CFS3  flying , on an AMD600
with 384 sdram  ,and 32mb ati sdram vid card-----  using  that for  the  basis  of it.
