cfs3 or PF

The latest Air Battle game from Microsoft! Running on an entirely new platform, CFS3 is raising it's fair share of problems & opinions - Good & Bad!

Guys really don't want to get into the FM or "my sim rox yours sux" shouting match. I want to know about another very important thing for a combat sim. The damage model. One thing I found very unrealistic in CFS 1 and 2 was this kind of damage based on points. If I set "unlimited ammo" (yes I know it's unrealistic" you could destroy a Tiger tank with .30 caliber machine guns. Is that still the case with CFS3, just cause I am looking at this MAW add-on. Thanks. 8)

AvHistory, can you tell me which of my previous questions you are referring to here?  I was feeling like my FM queries regarding both sims had been addressed.

It looks like whatever weaknesses the IL2 series has wrt to 1G stalls & spins will be addressed in BOB.  Check out this thread:  http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=63110913&m=6631080852

Yeah, it remains to be seen whether any of that work can be and/or will be folded back into IL2.  However, to be fair, it took some time after CFS3 came out before folks like yourself were able to provide improved FMs for it as well.

Also, it's not like the FM in IL2 is bad.  It's very good.  The specific area you have criticized (1G stalls and spins) is an admitted weakness, but I don't think it is a deal breaker, considering the overall package the software offers.

joea, CFS3 uses a damage sytem somewhat similar to CFS2 with the main difference that the hitboxes are no longer definable via the config file but are build into the model.

Glad that you like, joea :)
Working on cockpit and gauges now.
Early cockpit WIP.
Don't worry about the wrong gauges, these are copied from me Bf110 just to line up the geomtry.

Some gauge progress, trying to seddle the dreaded CFS3 cockpit discussion once and forever :D

>>>PF is still very much a work in progress<<<

Stick a fork in it its done. UBI has pulled the plug on PF just like they did to Eagle & LOMAC.

BEAR - AvHistory

Looks like someone forgot to inform UBI of this decision, as they have released a new patch for PF today.

Sick a fork in AvHistory's credibility, its done, but I'm sure that won't dissuade him from sharing his "insight" on PF here  ::)

The content of the released patch 304 already had a 'good to go' when the decision not to do additional patches & add-ons beyond it was made

Nice Panther but you were wrong about 3.04 being the last patch/addon for FB/PF. :D
