Just getting started question

**Dumb question alert**  I can't understand the left top circle which shows the panes path. Am I the center of the crosshairs? Who is blue, red, white and the line indicates what? ???

The cross represents your aircraft (at the center), blue are friendly, red the enemy ;)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
