GMAX file hierarchy for CFS3

Postby n.rev » Mon Dec 27, 2004 5:39 pm

I'm trying to create a Boeing B-17G in GMAX for Combat Flight Simulator 3  ;D But Need Help with the file hierarchy (I can not get the model to load properly :'() has anyone done any work on the subject.
I found the Microsoft SDK on the subject just a bit too unclear  ???.

Nigel, can you explain the problem a bit more detailed?
Shouldn't be too difiicult to fix display problems.
If you get this dreaded smiley face then you model name doesn't match the name entered to the xdp.

Nigel,
you have your top dummy "b_17g" and link all the LOD dummies to this one so that the LOD's are at the same level kinda like a parallel circuit.
You'd also link your cockpit_virtualx dummies to that top node dummy.

As for animations, control surfaces and tires are animated automatically by the game based on correct naming conventions as per the SDK and correct pivot rotation. Let me know if you need more info on the pivot bit.
Other animations need the correct part name and keyframe animations such as your bomb_bay and other things like f_canopy, the gear and so forth.

There should be no need to tinker with textures at all just to have a first glance at your model in the game, the blank geometry should display fine.

I would double check if you have all your references to the model correct in the airfile, aircraft.cfg and xdp, sounds like you have a typo somewhere.

I think i've narrowed it down to "PiLOT CAM".

When i copy from "JU_88A_4" it does not appear.

But when i Merge, i get the Double Names error and the model EXPORT seems to run okay .

BUT STILL Locks up >:(.

Do you think you could help, &
