Bomber Question

Postby Can_Sapper » Tue Apr 27, 2004 7:59 am

Hi all,

I finally got the Firepower add-on.  I've been dying to fly the Lanc.  Wow.  My problem is that I have trouble with bombing runs with the bomber aircraft.  I can handle bombing with fighters but the larger a/c finesse eludes me.  As soon as I go to the bomb-aimers position my plane goes all over the place and I can't seem to get her back to the target without going all over the sky.  can anyone out there give me hints on how to handle these big beauts on the last run in to the target?  Many thanks and Cheers!

You know that you still control the aircraft when you go to the bomb aimer position?
In any case, trim your aircraft well and keep a good course on target in time so you can fly her hands off.
When you are on course hit CTRL+Shift+A to enable autopilot and then go to the bombsight.

What i tend to do is. About 5 miles out of target and get the alt and heading going right. Then I trim into it so it can maintain relativly the same course. Make sure the line on your radar is straight and if it's required, hold your rudder to that exact posisition for another 4 miles. Switch to Bombadier and keep the rudder going. It helps if you press F5 just to see pitch and bank. If you do go out use TINY adjustments otherwise you'll lose the course.

The auto pilot is useless. Sure it gets you straight and level, but the plane does wobbles off course when engaging the autopilot. Best is to just get on course, go to the bombaimers position, press F5 and stay level. ;)

Depends on how good you trim your aircraft prior to hitting the AP.
You should shure have flightmodel set to hard or that auto trimm will kill any sense for good trimming. ;)
