New Member Has Some ?'s..

Postby Darth_Corleone » Mon Jan 26, 2004 9:17 pm

Hello! Everyone, I just bought MCFS3 and I have some ?'s to ask about this sim.

My pc is: P4 2.8 800mhz fsb, 1gb mem, Ati Radeon 9200 128. and plenty of HD space. The sim seems to run ok, but I don't seem to have any sense of speed.

What I mean by this is that whenever I'm in a P51d Mustang or any other aircraft when I get low to the ground and my MPH is 200mph it seems like I'm going 40mph. Is this just the nature of the sim? (I did reduce the fuel to 40% but not much change.)

I've been playing BF1942 and the Desert Combat Mod for BF1942. The flight & Air to Air and Air to Ground combat makes CFS3 kinda suck.

I've been playing Flight sims since I first had and Apple 2 in the 80's. I have CFS1 & CFS2 but only had a P3 550 Mhz system so I thought that a faster system would help the CFS sims.

I have not tried the CFS3 mulitplayer game yet.

I just installed the 2 CDs that came with the game. So far I've just been playingf the Quick Combat levels. Are there any patches that I need?

One more ?. Where in the USA can I buy the Firepower add-on?

Thank's for you time.  DC.

FirePower will not be available in the US till Mid february. The best and fastest way to get it is through this link.

Thank's 46th_Irish, I think it was your picture of an A-Bomb that I followed to that link. I'll wait for it's US release.

Since I last posted here I downloadwd and installed a Cfs3.1 patch. The game seems to play little better.

Can You tell me what video resolution will give me the best performance?

I forgot to mention the mt opp sys is Win 2000 Pro.

I was told some time back that 1280X1024 (??as to exact numbers) was best for CFS3 and switched to it and it ran better (and looked better)
You need that 3.1 patch installed before you do any add ons, so that is right. I use win2000pro and it works quite well.
Once you start to get excited about the many things available for upgrading CFS3, I would caution one thing. While you can go crazy downloading the zip files, load one at a time and check it completely before adding more. Aircraft add-ons somtimes require additional pylons, weapons and guns. If any is missing and the sim spawns that plane with that weapon, it will crash to desktop. So, install the new plane, and then fly it in QC trying every weapon loadout. If it crashes, BINGO! You know where to look. You will quickly get the hang of it and as you can see from Irish's help, you can ask some good volk and they will respond.
If you go to downloads here and get the BoB RAF fighter mission set, it includes basic tutorials on installing planes, missions, facilities etc. You can unzip and just read the tutorials without installing the missions.
