The latest Air Battle game from Microsoft! Running on an entirely new platform, CFS3 is raising it's fair share of problems & opinions - Good & Bad!

I will tell you that CFS3 add-ons aren't interchangable with any other Microsoft sims.  I would also like to say that it is CFS3, not CBFS3.  Same you CFS2.  I hope that answers your questions. :)

I've just recently got CFS3 to run on my system. After a bit of tweeking I have it running better than I thought it would. I honestly think CFS2 is a better sim. It is easier on the system, has a huge amount of downloads available and is compatible with other sims such as CFS1, FS98 & 2000 and CFS2 aircraft work just fine in 2K2.
I've just started to add new aircraft to CFS3. Being very keen on accurate and historical markings I've been looking for repaints of the types I will use most so as I don't have to look at a Spitfire with coloured wing tips!
I would say to you, if your system is up to it, give CFS3 a go but make sure you download and install the M$ update and use the NO CD patch found here in the CFS3 misc. section. But whatever you decide, DON'T get rid of CFS2 just yet.

It's no secret that I prefer CFS2 but then, CFS3 won't run at all well on my old rig. From what little I saw when I did finally get it running any sense, it's not the CFS I know & love.

Well, lets see now. The main reason I bought CFS3 was (apart from my CFS2 disk getting scratched) that it said on the box that you could man bombardier and gunner positions. It even says during installation that several online players can share the same aircraft in multiplayer missions...So in theory at least you could have one person at the stick, a few others fighting over gunner positions and another person (probably the last to log in) with the un-enviable role of bombardier. Yippety-do....trouble is...Can you actually do that, and how ? Has anyone tried or have they heard of anyone who has...or is this just another example of un-bewitting microsoft costumer- nil, microsoft - 1 ?

Yes you can have up to 9 people in one aircraft like the FirePower B17, its kind of cool really, we do it often in the 46th and it works really well. ;)

when the escort guys die we often hop into B17 gun turrents.

hey thanks for the info, I think i will stay with Cfs2!    following up on that, I think i will get fs2000/2002  to go with my cfs2.   what do you guys think is the most compatable Fs,    2000   2002    2004????    to go with Cfs2

Hehe, skip FS2000, it's the same in the civil department as CFS3 in the combat league,
a first try for a new technology, thus buggy and unpolished.
FS2002/2004 are matured although 2004 appears to be pretty much at the end of possibilities as far as the bgl format is concerned.
CFS3 gives a nice glance at what CFS4 will be IMO, if you're able and willing to discover the "new".
for me it's impossible to go back to CFS2, just a bit too aged.

At last. Someone who shares my opinions. :D

well I kinda agree with the above 2 posts I still play cfs2 every once in awhile. Tghe new autrailian campaing is cool. But scoring kills on cfs2 is very easy after playing cfs3 also thins look a little cartoonish in cfs2(the stock scenery). ::)
