Purple Hearts

I kind of think the number of Purple Hearts given out in this game is unrealistic.  I have seven now, and I'm sure I'll get more.

How many do you have?

I have no Purple Harts because I'm playing the British campaign. Currently I have 1 DFM, 4 DFC, 1 DS0, 1 VC, and 1 mention in dispatches.

In one mission I had the good fortune to catch a whole German squadron on the runway, in one of those moves you just cant plan I straffed and bombed the whole lot and was awarded one of each medal on the spot, well, when I landed.  That was when I developed "realism issues" about this game.

I'm flying for the RAF boys as well....so far I've earned;

1 AFM
4 DFC's
1 VC
1 mention in dispatches

The downside is only 6 succesful missions and 9 bailouts. The Hun have most of England except Cornwall and the North, but seem to be avoiding Wales. Time for that holiday in Scotland i think.

Its very realistic. To get a purple heart all you need to do is stub your toe or graze your knee slightly.

And macstu23, the reason they havn't got Cornwall is because I am there defending it in my Typhoon, from my house not a million miles away from Dyetree (which is called Cauldrose in real life.

You know, it would be cool if MS sponsored an online campaign, where each player had their own sector they had to cover.  It would be interesting to see how the war went then...

You know, the other day I was flying around in my Mustang when suddenly some blasted flak gun opened up on me.  I was so surprised that I jumped out of my skin, banged both my knees and hit my head on the canopy. They gave me three purple hearts for that one.

I've completed nearly 150 missions...Can't remember ever coming back without damage.  probably 2/3 of the time I was hit.  I lost count of how many Purple Hearts I have, but its a lot.

I completed the german fighter campaign in just 31 missions with 3 bailouts(twice because I fired rockets too low ).  Ended up getting about 3 gold wound bages.  Sometimes I think I have gotten extra purple hearts after missions where my bird wasnt damaged at all.
