graphics prob.

The latest Air Battle game from Microsoft! Running on an entirely new platform, CFS3 is raising it's fair share of problems & opinions - Good & Bad!

graphics prob.

Postby d0mokun » Sat May 24, 2003 5:27 pm

hi guys,
wondering if anyone might be able to lend a hand.

every time i play the game, the texture map bitmap flashes across the screen; whether i be firing flying or whatever. hence it makes the flying virtually impossible.. well no; impossible. and a waste of time.

any ideas what it could be? I'm using the 3.1 patch. UK retail copy. GF4 Ti4800, the 44.03 driverset.

Also, cfs3 config craps out when you exit- brings an error box up. this same box sometimes comes up when i start cfs3.

at the moment, i uninstalled it. i just cant be bothered with it when it works like so.

any help would be great,
cheers.
Dan.  :'( :'( :'(

Dano

Hmm....there may be a wrong option checked for your config which makes the bitmap flashing. I myself got no problems and im runnin a 512RAM 1.8ghz Geforce2 43.51. Go into your CFS3 Config and hit Custom Settings. Press ok and if you want change the display settings. Ive got all of mine at 2 except aircraft and effects which i got at 3, but thats cause i got Geforce 2 so you should be able to drive them a bit further. Press Enter on keyboard and file and exit. go into CFS3 now to see if changing the display settings worked. If nothing happened, then do this: Go into CFS3 config. Click File, Custom settings, Window, and Overides. Now heres where you gotta find out if anything is wrong. Some stuff should be checked and other stuff shouldnt;

Checked:
Disable Intro Movie
Dual Pass Render
High Resolution Z-Buffer
terrain Detail Texture
Disable validate device

Thats what i got. Be advised i got this instructions from a 'Better CFS3 performance' thing but these settings should work fine and in some cases improve the performance. Press enter, file and exit. Go into CFS3 and check it out. If it still keeps on doing the same, my pretty clumbsy suggestion is to install another driver (i heard some drivers are good with some games but bad with others..) I got 43.51 and all my sims and games work great. Well i hope i helped

hmm....thats just not right. I heard that some drivers are good with some games but do not function correctly on others; it may be possible that this is the case. I tell ya what, i got the 43.51 driver, maybe your CFS3 would do best with it.Before  i got this driver i too was havin some graphics problems. before you install a new driver make a Restore point just in case though. Now if you think it cant be the driver then i suggest you head on over to sim-outhouse.com and go to its forums and post the question; there is a guy there that is very skilled when it comes to graphics and such and may solve your problem.

Have you carefully read the setup instructions (the one that appears on the CFS3 misc download page on simviation)? You might have overlooked something.

I had that problem. Try the Nvidia vers 30.82 drivers. They are the most stable for CFS3 and FS2002.

There's also the new Detonator FX 44.03 drivers, going to test them and report back.

i think it may be something to do with cfs3 *wanting* high end graphics, so it goes all odd when you try to lower it.. still.. its ok ish now.
