bombing ships

The latest Air Battle game from Microsoft! Running on an entirely new platform, CFS3 is raising it's fair share of problems & opinions - Good & Bad!

bombing ships

Postby Sky_Shark » Mon May 12, 2003 8:13 am

what's the best way to hit those ships with our bombs? I never get an instant kill hiting ships but I hit other ground targets very well. My bombs always miss ships by tiny inches... What's the best way do bomb them? Dive bombing? What's the recomended speed, altitude and atitude? The standard ordinance is 2 500lbs bombs. I noticed using 2 1000lbs bombs forces you to bomb from a higher altitude (or else you will get flack).

Any input apreciated.

The best technique is to approach from the stern in a gently dive. At the last minute wack the throttle open release and pull up (using WEP if necessary). 99/100 she'll go straight to the bottom.
Alternatively if there are a lot of ships, come in from the stern again on the deck and going like the clappers. At the last possible second pull up (use WEP) and release, this way you shouldn't get hit.

The back end of the boat (less guns!), and the engine rooms.

But surely not! Stern means all nasty and mean so surely the stern is the pointy end! ;D

Only joking! The stern is the blunt end where the propellers are. In most ships and all warships the engines are amidships. (In the middle ;))

Ozzy, that's sum advice I can use too. I was wondering if where the bombs hit in CFS3 really makes a difference? Like if they hit the ontop of the engine room will it be more likely that the ship will sink?
Also in the game do tanks have less armour on the sides like they did in real life?

I'm not sure how accurate the ship model is, but I find a stern attack in my Spitfire using 1 250lb bomb I can put a boat to the bottom every time.
With tanks I either use cannon or rockets, so I've no idea.
