Bizzaro CFS3

Not having a lot of fun with CFS3!  Perhaps you can help.  I am running a 2 Gig Pentium 4 with 512MB Ram and Windows XP (NVidia GEFORCE2 MX/MX400).  I have done Ramsa's tweaks...still some stutters but thanks Ramsa!
When I try to start a New Campaign (any nationality) I am getting a message:
'No British HQs/Squadrons can be properly placed with spacing 2 given the current squadron data and front-line shape'
Can anyone suggest why I'm getting this message?
By the way..I've forgotten...how does one check one's frame rate?  :-[

I'm not sure about your problem but to open your FPS readout simply press Z. Don't keep it open though because it eats framerates up!

Yes, I'm getting the same message about the Hq. and frontline also.  No problem starting a new mission before the patch !!

Thanks Biggles and Meland.  Now that's a thought....the patch causing the problems....but then heaps of others would be complaining about it if that were the cause.

Just checked my fps and was only getting 15 or 16.  My CFS1 is running at 65+......what is the problem with this Sim????

There's a lot more details in CFS3 then in CFS1 that require a lot more processor power

Most, if not all multiplayer is with 1% a/c. If you do not have 1%,you are not going to get in. Go to mudpond.com and downlaod 1%

You may be getting those errors for multiplayer because the people your trying to join up with may not have the patch installed.

Some of you may remember when I bashed MS and CFS3 back in Nov.- Dec. 2002. I got a lot of strong opinions about what I thought of CFS3 and was told that it is the pinnacle of flight sim games. NOT TRUE. There are so many technical issues with CFS3 that even MS recomends that people that are having problems go to fan sites (like simviation ) to try to resolve their problems with the advice of other gamers. They, in the true spirit, tried to provide a very realistic game and they should be commended for it. However, they failed in the fact that MS could not make a trouble free, or as close as possible, type game to fit a wide range of people and computer systems. I have talked with so many people that have given up on the game for lack of compatibility. Its a great game if you have all the hardware and settings MS did when making it or are a dedicated gamer who will go out a purchase those things. By the way, back in Nov 2002 somebody told me that IL-2 Forgotten Battles was using only closed memory is very wrong. To sum it up: its a poorly constructed game, until the minds of the gamer come up with ways to improve upon it. As far as your concerns with your individual problems, good luck your not the only one!
