missions

Hello


  I am trying to install a mission called Sink_The_Bismark that i got from a site called ABSquad , i got it there because they claim its so easy to install (double click icon) well it does not show up in cfs2 but it is in the cfs2 mission folder.
 Sure hate to bother you folks with this but could someone aim me towards a place where i can read up on installing missions in cfs2?

One possibility might be the mission's required aircraft, AB-Tempest Mk V for example, aren't installed. Another may be scenery or ships required aren't installed.

Hmmmm, wait a minute...Just went to their website and saw this....

NOTE: You MUST install the new version of the CFS2 Ultimate Weapons Pack in order to be able to use the new "enhanced" weapons in the AB-Tempest Mk V, as it is not included with the aircraft in an attempt to keep the file size down, and you must also install the CFS2 Shipsin order for these missions to work properly!

  Thanks for your reply , i sure do appreciate it.  I did install the cfs2 ships and the weapon pack.  I can find the aircrafts (ab-tempest mk v and focke-wulf fw 190a) in my aircraft folder , i can find the ships in my cfs2 folder do not know what to look for to see if the weapons pack is installed.  I dont know if it makes any differance or not but the mission" sink the bismark"has a MIS file but has no dyn file like the rest of the missions in my mission folder.

You can get the Ships right here http://www.absquad.net/cfs2_scenery.htm#cfs2_shipss .The planes here http://www.absquad.net/cfs2_absquad.htm the weapons are included.

If I where you I would install them in different folder of your choice first. Copy and paste them from that folder into the CFS2 folder.

  Done like you said everything is in my cfs2 folder where it is supposed to be , except one odd thing (to me) , every mission in my  mission folder has two files they have a DYN file and a MIS file except the sink the bismark it has only a MIS file and does not have a DYN file , is this a problem?

I installed CFS2 a little bit ago. I'm going to download the Bismark mission and see what happens.

OK Harley, I downloaded the AB Sink the Bismark mission, weapons pak, amd CFS2 Ships pak. Installed all files in a temp folder to examine contents. All looked right. Installed same files to CFS2 directory. All installed with no issues. I opened CFS2, chose single missions, switched from American to British, chose the AB Sink the Bismark mission and it ran fine, except I got killed(

  I really appreciate you fine folks helping this old man out.  And i hate to say it but i wasted your time , i forgot to switch it over to British and when i did it was there.  
  I am pretty sure i will need some more help on setting this cfs2 up but i want to read all the links that james007 gave me first.  The thing is , i dont know if this computer will run cfs2 properly. The last computer i had built for games cost me over $2200.00 so shoot this time i bought a CHEAP MB , CPU and a couple of HDD!s and old parts from brokedown computers and put this one together for around 200.00 and seeing how i have never had the cover off a computer until now i dont know if its going to blow up or not.

Harley, you don't need much of a system to run CFS2. I've run it on a 266 MHz PII with 128 mb of PC100 RAM and NVidia 16-bit graphics card. Even now I'm only using a cheap eBay-bought 350MHz PII same RAM and a Vodoo3 graphics card. It runs pretty well set at 35FPS, medium settings. I may be switching CFS2 over to a given to me free 866MHz PIII in a little while. It should run much better there. I use a very small and very free program called ZIP to transfer files through the serial port, but misplaced my serial(null-modem) cable.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions, that's what this board is for-to help and inform.

   Just wanted to thank you again for your help.  I am getting between 60 and 75 fps with the overall quality deal set on four (4) , is this good or bad?  I can get over one hundred on my other computer. I have a old ati radeon 8500 video card in here now but i have a ati radeon 9800xt video card , would cfs2 do better with the 9800xt?

Should do fine Harley. Popped over to ATI and minimum recommended specs read as a 300-Watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system operation where a number of other internal devices are installed. Requires connection to your PC's internal power supply for operation.
