GAUGE/?

Hi to all,

  I have the gps100a gauge inst & works perfectly in cfs2.
    However I would like to have two programable gps's so I tried the gps100.
     I can program it & the guage shows up in the panel, but it won't show any of the writing to tell where you're going.
     Will it work in cfs2 ? or am I going in the wrong direction ?

It's a long time since I used these clever little gauges but you only need one. Simply rename a copy of the gauge after programming & before installing it to CFS2. You can have as many different versions of the GPS as you like on one panel.

Hey Otto, are you sure you're programming it properly ?

When you enter the values for each GPS page, you have to click on each entry to set it. You can't just type in the new numbers and then move to the next page. You have to laboriously enter a number and then click on it. then enter the next number and click on it.
Same with the airfield name: type it in, and then click on it. Otherwise it forgets.

You can  only programme the gauge whilst it is named GPS100a.gau. But once you've programmed it, you can re-name it to something else, like "ItalyGPS.gau". Then you have to make sure that your panel.cfg includes the "ItalyGPS.gau".
If you've done all this correctly, then it will show in your cockpit.
Each time you finish programming the GPs100a, rename the gauge, and then add it's name to the panel.cfg. That's how you get multiple GPS gauges in your panels for different parts of the World.

     What I was actually looking for was an ADF with the "DEFAULT" CFS1 airfields for CFS2 .
     I'm doing an ETO install & would like to use the GPS100a for my addons & the cfs1 adf for those airfields.
     All I could find was the cfs2euro_gps & it has some squadron scenery that I can't get.
     I'm doing the programming of the GPS100a correctly & you're right it's a slow process" LOL"
     I found the gps100 which has the default cfs1 airfields to put in my panels , but like I said , the gauge & the needle shows up but no writing to say what the airfield is & there lies my prob.
     I'm assuming that cfs1 reads it differently , but don't know for sure.
     I guess I'll have to do it the hardway , but was trying get around it HA!

Ah right: This time around you mentioned CFS1, which you didn't mention in your first post.
Unless I missed a distinction that GPS100 is the CFS1 version and GPS100A is the CFS2 version?
I was talking exclusively CFS2. I have no idea what happens in CFS1, and it may well read differently.

I would like to program this gauge for my use. Is there a post somewhere that tells how to program this gauge ?  If so where is it ?

Full instructions should be included with the gauge. It's time-consuming but not difficult.

Hagar is correct. When you download the GPS100a, package, there's a program that comes with it, which enables you to programme that gauge.
If you open the program, it tells you to click on each field to change it, and then click on that field again to set your changes. It's very intuitive, which is why you don't need a separate file to tell you how to do it.

What you do need to know when you start is what the exact Lat/Long co-ordinates are for the places you wish to put into the GPS, and what name you want to use for each place. It doesn't just have to be airfields, it can be any point of interest throughout your World map.

You click in the name field and type in a name, then click again to set it.
You click in the first numeric field, change it with the up/down arrows, and then click to set it. You do this with every numeric field. When that page is done, you move to the next page.

If you have any problems, just yell out. But I promise, it is really easy, if you remember to click in each field after each change.

HINT,

       When you change a number or letter it turns white.
Click on it again to turn it BLUE or it won't be set to the new coordince'
       Another thing I was doing was not moving to the next number which really makes it mess when you get to the end & find out you have two of the same next to each other WATTA PAIN !!
        Just a little meticulas , but not really hard

There is another set of GPS gauges similar to this and they are named WLDGPS and USAGPS and have a larger capacity. They cover many parts of the World and the USA

Can anybody tell me how to program these ?

You've got it spot-on there, Otto. I went through the same pain myself.

Gringo6, I believe those other gauges are hard-wired so you can't programme them yourself. But then you really shouldn't need to if they've already got all the World's airports in there.

I'm not sure you can. I think these are all by Chuck Dome. The ones you mention are for FS2000 (or 2002) & come already programmed. I have no idea if they would be any use in CFS2.
