Still keeps on shooting

Postby frenchbuck » Tue Jan 31, 2006 9:58 am

A short while ago I posted a topic about how my airplane guns won't stop shooting when I play CFS2. After I've tried the posted solution, the problem still exists. After removing and re-installing CFS2, the guns still kept firing. I even went into the registry and deleted the game from there. Still no fix. I even went as far as to formating the hard drive and re-installing windows. Guess what? Still no fix!! I don't want to stop playing because CFS2 has always been my favorite. Whats my next move guys? ???

What about the keyboard? Did you make sure there's not an alternate assignment in your settings? They may not be set the same for all 3 sims so only CFS2 is reacting (this could also be true for the joystick).

Great response!! You did it!! Now my guns fire only when I sqeeze the trigger. Just 1 little problem though. The action in the game now stutters. What I mean by that is the plane fly and stops flys and stops etc. Kinda like if I had 7 framerates per second. must be some other setting causing this because my other CFS games have excellant frame rates. CFS 2 with my upper end video card usually has 55-60 FPS.

Greetings,
This can be cause by interrupts being used on your computer.  I found a similar thing when my wife was printing something and I was playing CFS2, the game 'stuttered'.  Once she finished printing, it worked fine.  Ensure everything else is turned off.  I would also suggest you recalibrate your joystick.  Sometimes this causes problems as well.  I ahve also occasionally seen stuttering, but usually when I am running several other programs at once.  Occasionally it could be a spyware program running in background as well.

Have fun

It could bee your sound setting for the game are to high. If you have just install some newer game like Wings of Victory Battle of Britain or any other new game recently. They come with upgrades for your sound program.

You need to lower the Sound setings. You do not need to hear your engines or surrounding too high since your sound program has aready been upgraded.

Most people do not know that sound take the most of the resources out of your PC performance capabilities.

Another suggestion is to lower your sceneries from 6 to 4. Believe me you will not lose that much scenery pleasure but you sure will get much better Frame rate.

If you are a english speaking person you do not need the Message Text either if your flying for the American airforce or the RAF.

You will only need it when you fly for the Japanese JAAF or INJ.

I hope I have been helpful

Frenchbuck I forgot. I have another suggestion for you. Never uninstall CFS2 from your PC. By doing this your are asking for trouble. With each new upgrade from Microsoft and with the newer PC the less compatible the PC are to older games.

The best way to reinstall and still keep your latest addon and upgrades plus planes is this way.

How to reinstall over a already install program by Hadgar:http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm

If this does not fix your problem then come back to this forum and ask. Remember their are no dumb question. The only dumb question are the one you do not ask.

have a great day

I hope I have been of some help
