Electrics

Postby investdude » Mon Oct 31, 2005 5:05 pm

I know there are a lot of really talented and knowledgeable people out there.  Maybe one of you has the answer I'm looking for.  I have one of those aircraft which has to have an entry "Electrics always on" in the Aircraft.cfg file or the battery runs down and goes dead.  Entries in the Aircraft.cfg file, other than the above don't seem to have any effect.  It seems as though there needs to be an entry in the air file designating either a generator or an alternator.  I have scoured the air file very carefully but can't find anything relevant (of course there are still quite a few unknowns).  Anybody have any ideas?

[electrical]
max_battery_voltage = 24.0
generator_alternator_voltage = 28.0
max_generator_alternator_amps = 60.0

^^ dunno if that section found in the stock zero aircraft.cfgis any use. Not to good with the black magic of the air files and stuff

Turn the master switch off when not using the starter switch or using some instrument (not including the lighting) that uses battery power ;)

sry missed this post... the inclusion should be...

electric_always_available = 1

also might try

max_generator_alternator_amps = 160 which is default, then go up in increments of 2, any hotter and u might blow your panel straight through the canopy ::)

that should do it... Is it a jet?

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

thats why, the jet engine doesn't have an alternator like a normal piston engine, i still havent been able to figure out how to "make" an alternator for jet engines.
just make a [glb]BIG[/glb]battery, ;D

No, but it does have a generator.  I'm sure the answer lies somewhere in the air file.  I've tried umpteen modifications to the aircraft.cfg file to no avail.  One of the unknown entries in the air file may be it, or it might require an air file entry which is not very obvious.  I suspect the answer is very simple, I just don't know what it is, but I bet somebody out there does!
